After a 4 year hiatus from riding… I’m finally back!!
In recent weeks, I’ve slowly started to put feelers out for used bikes. I knew I wouldn’t be able to buy brand new again… and I truly wanted the same year, make, and model of what I had before (with Roxy).
A year older with a few more miles on her… this is the more refined, slightly more powerful Roxanne. With the advice and help of my neighbor, I found and purchased this beauty on Friday. While my previous bikes were both solid black with my own accenting (purple), Roxanne is grey/black and silver… with red accents. Initially, I wasn’t sure how I felt about the red rims… and then I saw the previous owner ride up on them. SEXY AS SIN!!! The bike isn’t perfect… there are a few scratches and some minor cosmetic things that need to be replaced. But, she’s mine. All mine. No payments, no one else on the title. She is 100% totally and completely mine!!
Getting back out on two wheels yesterday was nothing like I thought it would be. While I was initially nervous, once I was shifting through the gears, it was as if I had never left. This is definitely where I need to be. In some ways, I’m bummed it took me so long to get back to this point… but, at the same time, I had to reach this point on my own and at my own pace. Just like I had to swing my leg back over the saddle at my own pace… take that first ride by myself and my own speed and with my own destinations. Upon returning home, I couldn’t hide the smile under my helmet when I realized that regardless of age and imperfections… everything is as it should be… and that’s perfect.
